Bainbridge Island

Did you know that Washington ranks second only to California for wine production in the United States? Several wineries are located near Bainbridge Island homes for sale, where the climate is more ideal for grape-growing than in some European wine regions.

Enjoy quality wine along with the beautiful scenery at these top Bainbridge Island wineries, just a ferry ride away from Seattle homes for sale

  • Bainbridge Vineyards - 8989 NE Day Rd., Bainbridge Island, WA 98110
Founded in 1977, Bainbridge Vineyards is the granddaddy of the island's wineries. Owners Gerard and Jo Ann Bentryn started with a modest one-acre vineyard in downtown Winslow. The couple expanded to the current site in 1982 when they purchased land on Day Road that has been farmed since 1928. When the Bentryns retired in 2003, they passed the baton to a friend and employee, Betsey Wittick, who heads up the new cooperative ownership. Bainbridge Vineyards is one of only two wineries on the island where they grow their own grapes. The covered, heated outdoor tasting room is open Thursday through Sunday from noon - 5 p.m. Snacks are available for purchase, but feel free to bring a picnic lunch.

  • Amelia Wynn Winery Bistro - 390 Winslow Way E., Bainbridge Island, WA 98110
You'll feel transported to Europe with a visit to Amelia Wynn Winery Bistro, the elegantly casual tasting room for the off-site winery. Relax on the pet-friendly patio as you sample award-winning wines. Amelia Wynn was most recently recognized at the 2022 Sunset International Wine Competition, where their Cabernet Sauvignon received Double Gold, Best of Class ($40-$75). The bistro menu features upscale dishes such as grilled Spanish octopus, pan-seared duck breast, and roasted beet salad. Visit the website for lunch, dinner, and wine tasting hours. Reservations are strongly recommended.

  • Eleven Winery - 7671 NE Day Rd. W., Bainbridge Island, WA 98110
Eleven Winery strives to make wine tasting fun, especially for newbies. After retiring from professional bike racing, founder Matt Albee returned to graduate school but was lured away by the siren call of winemaking. Matt named his winery after a shorthand cycling term for "giving it everything you've got." Choose from the secluded, woodsy winery or the charming tasting room in downtown Winslow. Leashed dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating areas at both locations, which are open daily from noon - 8 p.m.

  • Perennial Vintners - 8840 NE Lovgreen Rd., Bainbridge Island, WA 98110
Perennial Vintners wants visitors to feel right at home ... literally. The boutique winery is located in the basement of founder Mike Lempriere's house. Like neighboring Bainbridge Vineyards, Perennial Vintners grows their grapes on-site, specializing in the variety called Melon de Bourgogne, known as Muscadet in France. When the weather allows, tastings are held outdoors. No food is available, but bring-your-own picnic lunches are encouraged. Hours are 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. on weekends and by appointment only on weekdays.

  • Eagle Harbor Wine Company - 8897 Three Tree Ln., Bainbridge Island, WA 98110
Cynthia and Hugh Remash turned their passion for artisanal old-world wine into a thriving business, but that's only part of the story. The couple also believes in community, which is why Eagle Harbor Wine Company participates in local events and donates to civic organizations. Today Hugh serves as a consultant to Emily Parsons, his one-time mentee who purchased the winery in 2014. The winery and the downtown Winslow tasting room are open Thursday through Monday from noon - 5 p.m. Reservations are highly recommended for the winery, while the tasting room is first-come-first-served.

  • Fletcher Bay Winery - 9415 Coppertop Loop NE, Suite 102, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110
The story of Fletcher Bay Winery is rooted in the classic dynamics of family rivalry. When Jim Wilford's brother-in-law took up winemaking, Jim was motivated to do him one better. The friendly competition became more than a hobby, and Jim and his wife Sharon set up production in their garage, with a guest cottage serving as the tasting room. Take a mid-week break and visit the winery for Wine Down Wednesday, which features live music from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. along with wine specials. Give yourself or a friend the gift of a membership in Fletcher Bay's wine club for discounts on wine and merchandise, as well as invitations to private events. Visit the website for hours at the winery and the tasting room in downtown Winslow.
