Coldwell Banker Bain, a leading provider of real estate brokerage services throughout the Pacific Northwest and a market leader in home sales in 2019, has issued “Best Practices” guidelines in light of Governor Inslee’s recently announced updated guidance that allows for limited public open houses.
While providing guidelines for holding an open house, company leadership is advocating for caution and if possible, a continuation of showing listings on an appointment-only basis, said Mike Grady, COO and president, given that the health and safety of its clients, brokers and staff and their families remains of the utmost importance. “While our brokers and clients are cautiously optimistic about the loosening of state guidelines, concerns remain about conducting open houses during this time. COVID-19 is still here and remains highly contagious.
As the past few months have proven, we have been extremely successful in facilitating showings via either limiting the number of people touring a home using ‘by appointment’ showings, or by virtual viewings. As has been historically true, we expect that serious buyers will continue to make appointments to view properties and that the majority of people coming through a public open house will be not become a buyer.”
In the event that a public open house is requested, the company requires that its brokers follow all state required and recommended protocols, which can be found here: https://www.warealtor.org/covid-19/2020/10/07/open-house-guidance.
